Planning a puppy party? Well I’ve basically done all the planning for you! With simple recipes, activities, digital prints, decorations, crafts, and games, I’ve got you covered!
With these easy activities and recipes your next puppy party is sure to be a hit with minimal prep. When my daughter told me she wanted a puppy themed birthday party I was so excited to start putting everything together! We just got our goldendoodle, Niko, a few months prior so getting into the puppy theme was super easy. First, I ordered her adorable puppy print dress from Taylor Joelle. The fabric is extremely soft and the quality is unmatched. I then knew I needed to get the matching dog designs from the dress so I spent a couple of dollars for the puppy party prints on Etsy to tie everything together.
Simple Food Ideas for Dog Themed Party
I used the designs from HeyCuteDesign and added some text and a few graphics to complement the food and activities I was putting together for the party. This particular snack was super easy to throw together and ended up being the party favorite for my 7 year old’s birthday.
- Popcorn
- Pretzels
- Chocolate Chips
- Marshmallows
- Scooby Snacks
I thought adding bone appetite was too cute and I added the text and the bones to this cute puppy. Don’t let the image fool you, the cookies I bought pre-made from Wal-Mart and the kids loved them! I added mini toy puppies on the cookie cake stack.
This puppy chow was easy to make and peanut free! I used this recipe I found on Pinterest. I used pink vanilla flavored chocolate rather than white shown in the recipe.
We traded our go-to food for parties (aka pizza) for hot dogs, because I just had to ha. It was too perfect! To make it easier on me though, I went with some mini hot dogs I could throw into the crock pot with some sauce rather than grilling during the party.
Cute Puppy Party Activities
The “Adopt a Puppy” portion of the party was probably my favorite and the following activities worked so well together I was giving myself a giant pat on the back. I found these adorable 12 pack mini plush puppies from Amazon and added them in a basket for our party guests to choose from. They then named their puppies and added it to their adoption certificates.
We used pipe cleaners and large beads to create our collars/leashes for our puppies. The girls loved picking their bead colors and being able to hold their puppies by their “leash”. I on the other hand could not have been happier after figuring out that just one of these large pipe cleaners was the perfect fit to create both the collar and leash. We simply twisted off the collar leaving the longer portion of the piper cleaner for the leash sticking out. They could add more beads if they desired and then we created a little finger loop for them to hold the tip of the leash.
I found these perfect boxes for our little puppies to go in and thought it would be fun for the girls to decorate their individual puppy house (which also doubled as their “goodie bag”). They used markers, dog stickers, pom-poms (although those didn’t stick as good as I was expecting), and sequence jewels.
Puppy Party Games
After our puppy adoption and crafts we had a little bit of time on our hands so we played a couple of easy birthday party games.
Fetch the Ball
I used small squishy balls and divided the girls into two teams. For this game we played relay race style where one of the girls from each of the teams had to fetch the balls I threw on their hands and feet (one for each team). Once they retrieved the ball they had to bring it back to the starting line where they proceeded to hand off the ball to me for me to then throw to the next team member in line. When each member of the team retrieved the ball the game was over, and the team that completed the task first won.
Pin the Tail On the Dog
This one is just like the classic game pin tail on the donkey, except for this time the children are trying to pin the tail on the dog.
Ball, Ball, Who Has the Ball?
Ever heard of the game, “Button, Button, Who Has the Button?” If not let me explain it to you. Using the same balls we used in our game previously we had the girls sit in a circle. We chose one girl from our two teams to go into a separate room. When they were gone out of ear, and eye shot, I selected one girl from each of the teams to hold our ball. All of the girls held their hands together pretending that they were the ones holding the ball, even if they didn’t have it. We then brought back the girls and they had to try and figure out which person on the opposing team had the ball. If they guessed correctly, their team received a point. We repeated the rounds until everyone had a turn being the guesser.
That’s it! We had the best time. It was so fun and surprisingly easy to throw together with minimum prep. You can shop all of our puppy themed party links on my LTK here.
