Every time we leave town I get so stressed. Every. Single. Time. Well today was no exception. I was trying to clean the house, get the girls food and pack everything we needed. My 2 year old kept throwing every single thing in sight which created an even bigger mess and she refused to eat her lunch. I tried calmly talking to her multiple times and then I started to lose it!
My 3 year old picked up on my frustration and started yelling and dancing. This made me even more stressed and I told her to stop. Then she said sadly, “but mommy, I thought if I was silly then it would make you laugh.” Oh man… what a humbling experience. This perfect little soul was simply trying to help mommy smile. I stopped, slowed down, and picked up my now sobbing 2 year old who through her tears was saying, “Hug? Hug?” and I just held her.
Thank you to my 3 year old who reminded me to smile, and to “Never let a problem to be solved become more important than a person to be loved” (President Thomas S. Monson, Finding Joy in the Journey.)
